BASKETBALL FOR THE PLANET -- SEASON II
JUNE 16, 2012
SOUTH ARDMORE PARK, ARDMORE, PA

My name is Jake Rothschild.  Last year, I launched Basketball for the Planet, a basketball-a-thon to raise money for charity.  This year, I’m doing it again.  You may ask “Why would you do that Jake? That sounds like a lot of work.”  And my answer would probably be “I don’t know, why not?”  However, to be honest, the reason behind this is not “Why not?”  The reason is that there are people out there who need help, and we are in a position to help them.  Last year, we helped protect the earth from global warming by donating to the cause of putting solar panels on Penn Valley Elementary School.  This year, were going to fight hunger, by donating to Philabundance.  Philabundance is a non-profit organization that helps feed hungry people in Philadelphia.  It is an important cause, and one that always needs more help.

Last year was a success.  We raised almost $2,500.  We got an article published in the Main Line Times.  This year, I want it to be even better.  I want $5,000.  I want an article in the New York Times.  Last year, we broke the record for the biggest knockout game ever at South Ardmore Park, with over 100 participants.   It was spectacular.

This year, let’s break the world record.  To do that, I need your help, your donations, and your participation.  Join me, and help fight hunger in Philly.

It costs $10 to participate.  Extra donations are appreciated.  Entry fees are paid on the day of the event.  Please also bring canned goods for Philabundance.
